The Iran Job -- a different kind of sports documentary

Kevin Sheppard is a professional basketball player who didn't make it to the big leagues but he was still good enough to get on a team in the Iran Super League.  This film directed by Till Schauder tells the story of Sheppard's experiences playing professional basketball in Iran. While he's there he learns a lot of about the culture of Iran and makes some important friends.

I found it to be a very interesting documentary! Even if you're not interested in basketball or sports at all, you are still likely to find this film quite interesting.

Till Schauder, the director,  had some challenges in being able to film this documentary. He was able to get permission from the team Sheppard played with and from the league. Kevin played with A.S. Shiraz which was a brand-new team. Till has both a German and American passport. He was able to travel to Iran with his German passport.
